Ten single-passenger electric vehicles built by high school students from Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC, will compete at the inaugural Washington DC Electric Vehicle Grand Prix at National Harbor on Saturday, June 8th from 8:30 to 4:00 PM.
The PEPCO sponsored event, believed to be the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic region, is organized by Global EEE (Education, Energy and Environment) in partnership with the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington, DC (EVA/DC), the Baltimore-Washington EV Initiative (BEVI), and NuGen Mobility. Other co-sponsors include charging station provider SemaConnect, Spice 6 Indian Cuisine, Mom’s Organic Market, Autobahn Indoor Speedway and Clean Currents.

The hope is to make electricity more reliable, save consumers money on their energy bills, and support homegrown American clean energy jobs and industries by making renewable energy easier to access across the country.
